1xRun Thru Interview
The Graffiti Killers by 123Klan
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about this piece, what materials were used to create this piece?
123Klan: This was an original piece that we created exclusively for 1xRUN. We do everything hand made first, all the character design and fonts, and then we jump on illustrator to finish.
1xRun: When was the piece created? How did the idea & execution come about?
123Klan: This piece was created in March of 2013. We just wanted have fun playing around with the “Rapnation” theme back in the 80’s.
1xRun: How long did the piece take?
123Klan: This crazy character was made with an original idea of our son Tommy a.k.a JunkyT and it took about one week to create.
1xRun: What is unique about this piece?
123Klan: Our style.
1xRun: Why should people buy this print?
123Klan: Why not?
1xRun: Describe this piece in one gut reaction word.
123Klan: oh merde.
1xRun: When did you first start making art? What was your first piece?
123Klan: 1989 for Scien, 1992 for Klor. Our first pieces were illegal graffiti writing in France.
1xRun: What artists inspired you early on? What artists inspire you now?
123Klan: Early on it was almost all of the New York school, such as Cope2. Now, it’s almost all the graffiti scene.
1xRun: Do you listen to music while you work? If so what?
123Klan: When the two of us are in our studio we’re listening to different types of music depending on the mood.
1xRun: What was the first piece of art that you bought? Do you still have it? The last?
123Klan: The first may be Obey’s poster, don’t remember. Most of time, we just exchange art with friends.
1xRun: Any other big plans for the spring/summer that you’d like us to share?
123Klan: We have a 300 pages book should be released in the fall of 2013. Style is the message !
