1xRun Thru Interview
Smiling Charlie Thoughtcrime by Bask
1xRun: Tell us a little bit about the hand painted multiples, what materials did you use to create them? When were they created? How long did these pieces take?
Bask: These pieces are a continuation of my Thoughtcrime series. The Smiling Charlie image holding a grenade, is painted on a series of weathered panels. This set was completed within the past month. It’s hard to say how long they took to create because salvaging the panels from a variety of places over a long time is just as much of a part the art as laying down the paint on top of them. Each piece has it’s own history imbedded onto itself.
1xRun: Anything immediate you would like us to highlight?
Bask: Just that each piece is hand crafted. Each panel has been painted and processed by me. I like the idea of small production works that let people get a original piece of art for the cost of some prints these days.

1xRun: Tell us how the idea and execution came about?
Bask: I have been saving these panels for a while and finally it was time to cut them down and make some art out of them. Paintings of the same stenciled image but each looking 100% original to itself. Each piece has it’s own distinct character and personality while keeping the repetition of the Thoughtcrime.
1xRun: What is unique about these pieces?
Bask: The individuality of each piece from the next.

1xRun: Why should people buy this piece?
Bask: Because they’re fucking AWESOME!
1xRun: Describe the piece in one gut reaction word.
Bask: Thoughtcrimes.
1xRun: 2012 was a busy year for you, what have you been working on recently?
Bask: Last year was a huge year for me. I can’t really talk about it in detail yet but I did a lot of work for certain Marvel film coming out in a few months. That’s all I can say for now without getting sued into third world poverty.
1xRun: What else do you have in the works for 2013?
Bask: More art shows, more murals, more havoc in a city or state near you.
1xRun: Where else can people find you?
Bask: Website – Facebook – Twitter – Tumblr – Flickr -

More than one person I know tell me about these works but they say is you the design but not you that paint them all yourself? That they hand painted yes but not by you. Is this true the people I hear don’t lie and now I’m confused
Saecar, each of these pieces are individually created by BASK himself. I hope this helps clear things up.
